Winter fun in Amsterdam

In spite of cold weather we had a lot of fun these days in Holland!!!

I know, there was serious trouble with the snow and very low temperatures especially in Central and Eastern Europe, but still, we in the Netherland enjoyed and enjoyed, till we dropped.

Making herbal teas with warming up spices like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger on base of linden and liquorices or glühwein (hot red wine with cinnamon, ginger and clove) on regular basis helped us to survive the frost. And the skating! Everybody was  doing it, talking about it, watching it, and experiencing it.

In Amsterdam there was a kind of nineteenth century atmosphere dominating on the channels (grachten) in the center of the city, where youth and elders celebrated together the unexpected gifts of Mother Winter. It’s been 15 years ago that the channels had a compact and save layer of ice to skate on.

Free green pea soup, cookies and hot wine the very first day, reasonable ice for skating, picturesque skyline and enthusiast people, what do you want more?

New Year Wishes

With the New Year new challenges may come. Let’s face them with dignity and courage. May Lord Dhanwanthari (God of Healing) stay with you and me in the year 2012 and may he bless us with good health and peace.

Amen.

Remembering Václav Havel

During my stay in Prague, when me and my family were celebrating the respectable birthday of my mother, formal Czech president Václav Havel died. Please, allow me to share some impressions of the atmosphere in the Czech capital with you.

Experience of senses

Imagine for yourself: a design in warm earthy colors and Indian motifs on the walls and ceiling, oriental fragrance of sandal, vanilla, jasmine and musk, delicious herbal tea as a welcome, a pleasant temperature, enchanting music and a comfortable massage table. All senses are fed.

A massage treatment with warm Indian herbal oil from head to toe by soft caressing and also energetic hands, a sitting steam bath with the head left cool, slow-moving flow of healing hot oil on the forehead, pain relief giving warm sand, herbal or rice bundles, stress relieving head and back massage or a foot bath with fragrant bath salts and followed by a foot massage. At the end a cup of purifying tea to help remove the waste materials from your body.

It is an experience to remember for sure – you are welcome in the Ayurvedic Clinic of HelenaSita

Ode to travelling

I like travelling – it makes my Vata Dosha go up, but anyway it is my passion, always was. Last time I made a private visit for a few days to Budapest, capital of Hungary. Joung Czech/Dutch student in Budapest

Nice weather, beautiful majestic buildings; some of them in Art Nouveau (my favorite architecture), nice and polite people, good food and beer and cakes! I have always liked the rhythm and sound of the Hungarian language, partially due to my first visit of the concert of the Hungarian super group Omega a very long time ago. Their silver LP was also recorded in English language, but that was not the same listening experience for me.

However as always I try to learn a few expressions in a local language, wherever I go, also in Hungarian this time. It was useful at the local market, in the train, on the streets and outside in the village at the  Balaton lake. My visit of Budapest was short but very intensive, that’s why I spent a few hours in a local spa – Szechenyi Bath, the first thermal bath in the Pest side of the city.

Really a great experience -   warm, hot, cold, moderate  bath,  herbal bath,  sulfur bath, a large almost empty pool to swim in, and a great massage. It maked my day again, took the fatigue away.

Then the train journey through Slovakia and Moravia to my beloved Prague. Also a lovely capital, always has been, maybe a little bit more renovated  than the Hungarian capital. Also nice food, drinks, friends and family. I got reloaded again.

Brand new day, brand new way

With the help of my bright son and  his friends  I have not only a new website about my ayurveda practice, containing some basic information on Ayurveda,  ayurvedic herbs, indian food recepies, photo’s, video’s,  etc, but also an account on facebook ,and now my own blog. All the new means of communication, at least for me. I am from the “older generation”, you know!

So let’s get started!
